Ben and His Dog

After Ben built his snowman he came inside and wanted to watch the Polar Express.  Baxter took the opportunity to sit with Ben.  It was so cute because normally Ben will squeeze the dog to death, but he just let him sit and rest.

Snowman

Ben has never gotten to build a snowman because of his constant ear infections.  He’s been asking since the first time it snowed this season to build a snowman.  Scott had the day off on Wednesday so they went out and attempted a snowman (the snow was fluffy, not good for packing).  Ben was upset because he wanted a snowman that was as big as his daddy so I’m sure we’ll see another attempt later.

Remember Christ this Christmas

One of my friends shared this video on Facebook and I had to share it with all of my family and friends. The music is Oh Holy Night as performed by Kenneth Cope and the artwork is by Liz Lemon Swindle. May we all remember Christ this Christmas season and reflect upon His birth, life, ministry, Atonement, sacrifice and Resurrection. You may need a tissue for this one.

Hot Chocolate Dance

Yesterday we were doing some cleaning around the house and Scott turned on some Christmas music.  The “Hot Chocolate” song from The Polar Express came on.  Well both of the boys started dancing around.  It was so funny to watch.  This morning we were playing the Christmas music again and I wanted to take some pictures of the boys in their new Christmas outfits (thanks Grandma Ann and Grandpa Larry).  Well, the “Hot Chocolate” song came on and here are some of the fun pictures that I got!

Straw for a Diaper Change

The Last StrawEvery Christmas Eve my parents read a story to the grandkids and then give each of the children a copy of the book. Last year they shared the story The Last Straw. Then they gave each of us a “manger” and some “straw.” On Monday we read the story to Ben during FHE and we talked about being kind so that we could make a soft bed for the baby Jesus. So Ben is now obsessed about earning straws for Jesus’ bed. Last night when I got home from Parent Teacher Conferences we started talking about his day and gave him the straws he earned. All of the sudden he looks at me and says, “Mom, Dad needs a straw!!” I said, “why does dad need a straw.” He said, “Dad changed Tyler’s poopie diaper and it was yucky. It was nice of Daddy to change it.” So I gave Scott a straw to put in the “manger.”   How funny that a 3 year old sees that dealing with poop as being kind :)!

Santa Pictures

On Friday we took the boys to get their pictures taken on Santa’s lap. We had prepared ourselves for Tyler to be screaming and crying in the picture (especially after the last time he saw Santa). We set him down and the ladies took the picture as fast as they could. I was very excited about how it turned out!! As soon as they got the picture Tyler started crying. Ben told Santa that he wanted some games and a red drum set like his Grandpa Ron’s.

Tyler Walked!!

We learned when we were trying to teach Tyler to roll over that he was going to do things at his own pace. So for the last 5 months he has been pulling himself up and walking around furniture. He also learned how to stand up on his own in the middle of the room. He would stand up look around to see who was watching, take one step, smile, and then sit down. Well tonight he was standing by Ben and me next to the couch. I looked over and he started walking!! I don’t think that he even realized he was walking. I turned to Scott and said that Tyler had taken 3 steps and we started clapping for him. Well Scott came and got him and kept putting him in the middle of the room and he would walk to us (he liked walking to Ben). Then he would clap for himself!! We’re so excited that he has reached this milestone!! Here are some fun pictures of his first few “real” steps.

Ward Christmas Party

This morning was our ward Christmas party.  Santa came to the party and walked around the tables and met all of the kids.

After he met everyone he sat on the stage and the kids were able to come up and tell him what they wanted.  Ben told Santa that he wanted a red drum set like his Grandpa Ron.  Tyler didn’t like being with Santa that much (you can tell by the picture.)
