Fun With Food Storage

I follow several blogs and other online resources that focus on food storage and emergency preparedness. Several local Utahn’s launched Fun With Food Storage (FunWithFoodStorage.net) today. The site will provide information about how to get and use your food storage in your everyday cooking. They’re having a great give away contest and I thought I’d pass on the info to our family and friends. Enjoy!

Other resources that I follow:

New Year’s Plans

Scott’s band is going to be having a New Year’s Eve Celebration and Dance on Wednesday, December 31st at 8:00 PM to 12:30 AM at the LDS Church building located at 220 South Woodland Hills Drive in Woodland Hills, Utah.  (Unless Annie decides to make her grand arrival - then it will be the rest of the band minus Scott!!)  All family and friends are invited to come and enjoy a free evening of music by Crossroads and to celebrate the New Year.  Please bring a potluck party item to help with providing food for this free event.  Chips, dips, cookies, crackers, veggie trays, sodas, water, punch, desserts, etc., etc. would be greatly appreciated.  All in attendance are expected to follow LDS standards while at this event.

** UPDATE **
Your kids are all welcome to come as well.

Halloween Party

We had our annual Halloween party tonight. It was a lot of fun to visit with some of our friends and watching our kids play together and get along (we missed those who weren’t able to make it because of other obligations). Everyone was amazed that they actually liked bat stew made in a pumpkin. Scott also made some authentic Spanish food. The kids loved the home made rootbeer and their rootbeer floats. Here are pictures of everyone that dressed up (and some dads).

Halloween Cookies

I was babysitting for one of my friends yesterday and I decided that it would be fun for us to make some Halloween cookies while the kids were here. (I don’t know what I was thinking with a 3 year old, 2 year old, 1 year old, and 5 month old!!) It was a lot of messy, messy fun.

I Support Proposition 8

I never thought of myself as a political person before. I read about the candidates and the issues of each election, but I never actively voiced my thoughts and feelings about them. This year has been very different. There are several issues on the ballots this year that I really feel strongly about that have made me become more politically minded and opinionated. These issues will effect me, my family and my religion directly. I’d like to address one of those issues in this post. Proposition 8 in California.

What happened? What’s coming? How can we prepare?

I am a Glenn Beck fan. I listen to his talk radio show on AM radio and watch his show on CNN whenever I can. He shares the same values and religious beliefs that I do, so I agree with much of what he says.

He recently published a series of three letters to his family on his website. This series helps to answer three questions that many of us have asked, are asking, or will ask about this financial crisis that we’re facing. I recommend that you read them through competely. They contain links to articles and other references for further investigation into this mess. He has presented his answers in a non-partisan format, so don’t worry about any bashing of any specific presidential candidates, but he does urge you, as do I, to vote for those elected officials who will make decisions that will fix our problem and not make it worse.

Here are links to the three letters:

Ben’s 3rd Birthday

Ben turned 3 today. I can’t believe how time has flown. He has been so much fun to have (even on his stinky days!) I just wanted to highlight some things about his 2nd year of life.

Tyler’s 1st Birthday Party

We had Tyler’s 1st Birthday Party on Sunday. It was fun to have some of our family and friends at our house to celebrate this special day with us. Tyler had fun opening the presents and eating his cake. His favorite thing to play with was the box that his coat came in. :)
