August Daring Bakers Challenge

This month I have started feeling better so I was able to accomplish the Daring Bakers Challenge.  This months challenge was hosted by Tony Tahhan and MeetaK.  The challenge was eclairs from Chocolate Desserts By Pierre Hermé.  It was fun and challenging.  Ben helped me put the chocolate glaze on the top of the eclairs (that’s why they look so fun.)

James Taylor and His Band of Legends

Can you believe I was able to keep this secret from Heidi for over 3 months? I wanted to surprise her and I am very pleased with how she reacted when I finally told her where we were going. She said that she had even looked at concerts in August and September, but didn’t see that James Taylor was coming. Well, I’m glad that I was able to pull it off and that we both had a great evening to ourselves… and the 20,000 other people that were there last night. Here are some pictures that I took with my phone. The ticket said no cameras were allowed, but there were thousands of cameras there anyway. Next time, we will smuggle a camera in so we can have better pictures.

My Sweet Husband

I don’t remember if it was March or April, but one day Scott told me that he was going to be spending money on a surprise for me and that I shouldn’t try and figure out what the money was going too.  All he would tell me was that he had a surprise in August or September.  So yesterday I took a nap while the boys were napping.  When I woke up Scott asked me if I was going to fix my hair.  I told him I wasn’t and thought it was funny that he asked because he doesn’t normally care about stuff like that.  Well he said something about my hair a couple more times and then he says, “Well, your surprise is tonight and I think you’re going to want to do your hair.”  Well, when I found that out I ran upstairs to get ready.  Scott’s mom came and we were able to leave.  Scott had kept the secret for so long that he only made it about 10 block before he told me what he had planned.  He had bought tickets to the James Taylor concert.  (Scott and I went to his concert a few years ago when I was pregnant with Ben.  I’ve been telling him ever since that if he ever came back I wanted to go.)  So we went to dinner at Tepenyaki (not a real kid friendly place) and then we went to the concert.  It was so much fun!!  It was so nice to have an “adult” night out and to be able to actually talk to each other.  It was so thoughtful of Scott to plan such a special evening.  A big thanks to Scott’s mom and dad because we got home 1 1/2 hours after Scott thought that we would.

24th of July

I know I’m really late in posting this stuff, but when my family only gets together 2 times a year I didn’t have time to blog about the stuff as it was happening.  (We like to fit a months worth of activities into 1 week!)  On the 24th of July Scott’s band played for Provo City.  My family all came and listened to the first set.

Then we went to my Grandma Banks’ for our family lunch.  They got out the slip and slide for the little kids.

Scott met us there and then we went to my mom and dad’s.  Now we couldn’t let the kids have all of the fun so for the 2nd year we got out the “adult” slip and slide.  (It’s about 50 feet long.)  We all took some turns going down it.  Some sliding on their own; some being pulled down so that they weren’t sliding on the babies.

Discovery Gateway

While Kim was here we took the kids to the Discover Gateway.  Ben was in Heaven because he was there with all of his cousins on my side of the family.  They spent time playing with the balls in the beehive, playing in the tiny town, playing in the water, playing in the different science areas, and getting on the big helicopter.  It was so nice to go there with Kim’s kids.  Hattie took to Tyler and just wanted to hold him and take care of him.  Claire and Walker were helping Hudson and Ben go in the cars and get their “groceries.”  It was fun to watch them all play together.  It was one of the easiest trips out with the boys that I’ve ever had.  A big thank you to Kim’s kids for that.

Carnival

We met Brady, Hannah, and Hudson for the carnival last Tuesday.

We thought Ben would be better about going on the rides with “his Hudson” there.  My mom met us there and volunteered to ride the merry-go-round with the boys.

My favorite part of the night is when the boys went on the dragon “rollercoaster.”  They both started out with terrified looks, but were smiling at the end. (I didn’t get very good pictures, but Hannah got this one.)

They also went on the cars.

Neither one of them where very excited about leaving.
