July Daring Baker Challenge
July 31, 2008 by Heidi in Food, House Stuff
As Scott mentioned in an earlier post this pregnancy is kicking my butt! The host for this month was Chris from of Mele Cotte (http://melecotte.blogspot.com/). The recipe was a cake that looked as though it would be really fun to make. The problem that I ran into with being so sick (I don’t think I’ve cooked in 6 weeks) is that I’ve never been able to read through the whole recipe without needing to run to the bathroom (you know when you’re pregnant and people start naming off food and it makes you sick to even hear the idea of food?). Anyway, I didn’t end up being able to make the cake, but I do appreciate the time that Chris took to come up with the challenge and hope to make it in the future when my stomache can handle it :)!
Mini Golf with Ben
July 21, 2008 by Scott in Family
Heidi has been very sick this pregnancy. She says that it is like being pregnant with Ben and Tyler combined. So, she feels like Ben has been neglected in the “fun” department because they don’t go places and do stuff that often. She takes the boys for walks a few times a week and they play on the playground at Heidi’s school, but they don’t really go places.
So, today she wanted to take Ben somewhere fun. I cancelled a meeting that I had scheduled for this afternoon and we went to Trafalga, the miniature golf place. We hadn’t been there since last year when we tried to mini golf with Ben, so we were blown away that they had remodeled the inside golf course. It is painted like an underwater world with fish, turtles, crab, lobster, seaweed, sharks, whales, etc., etc., you get the idea. All of the lights are black lights and all of the paint is glow paint. So, you can imagine how cool it is. Anyways, Ben was so fun this time. It took him a couple of holes to figure out that he shouldn’t pick up the ball and move it, just hit it with the golf club. We didn’t keep score, but we had a really fun night. Tyler was so great, I don’t think I heard him make a sound the whole time we were there. We had a really fun Family Night tonight.
Keeping My Big Mouth Shut!!

You would think by now that I would have learned to not tell Ben about anything until we are on our way to the event. For instance, my sister and her family are coming from Arizona today and I told Ben on Sunday that his cousins were coming to see him. (I just get so excited for my family to all be together and it only happens twice a year!) Anyway, I tell Ben that they are coming on Saturday so every day he asks me if it’s Saturday and he gets to play with his cousins. I tell him no and then we count down how many more days until Saturday. So this morning he comes into our room and says it’s Saturday and he gets to see his cousins. I say you’re right, but they aren’t going to be at Grandma’s until 4 so he had to take a nap and do some other things first. Well at 3:30 he is driving me so crazy that we load up in the car and go to my mom and dad’s. When we get there my dad tells us that Kim’s family isn’t going to arrive until after Tyler’s bedtime. (They had stayed with some of their friends in Vegas and the kids didn’t want to leave, had to run an errand for my mom in St. George, and then visit my grandma in Cedar City.) So I have to try and explain to Ben that he isn’t going to see his cousins until tomorrow. He tells me that it is tomorrow so he should get to see them!! Then I say well tomorrow is Sunday so we will see them after church and his nap. You can imagine how happy he was with me! The point of this story is that I could have avoided a weeks worth of agravation if I would have just kept my mouth shut and then told him we were going to see his cousins after I knew they were at my mom and dad’s. Hopefully I get it figured out before Tyler can yell at me too.
4th of July

For the 4th of July this year Scott and his band had a gig in Blanding, Utah. The people there were some of the friendliest people I have ever been around. It was so much fun! Ben got a microphone stand and sang most of the songs right along with Scott. Then on the 5th they played in Torrey, Utah. It was fun to see Scott play, but we were excited to get home.
