New Pictures
May 30, 2008 by Heidi in Family
I haven’t put up any updated pictures of the boys lately and I’ve gotten chastised for it, so here they are (I don’t know what happened to the picture that cut Tyler’s face off at the bottom or his head at the top. I’ll have Scott try to fix it.):
Mother’s Day Present
May 30, 2008 by Heidi in House Stuff
I am such a slacker!! For Mother’s Day Scott put together my sewing area and I’m just getting around to blogging about it. It is upstairs in our “hobby” room (which is the band room right now and probably will be again in years to come). I love it. It is so nice to be able to work on a project and know where everything is and not have to fight for space somewhere in the house. When you look at the pictures the counter top is really high (on purpose). It was a very sweet and thoughtful gift. Thanks Scotty!!
Ben’s Mission
May 26, 2008 by Heidi in Family, Religious
On Saturday we went to my mom and dad’s house to help them move their stuff out of storage because they have finally finished their remodel. While we were emptying out the pod Ben found some pennies. My mom told him that he could have the pennies. Then he was running around with the money and it was falling out of his pockets so my mom put it in a bag. We asked Ben what he was going to do with the money and he told us that he was going to go on a mission. He started walking around showing everyone his money for his mission. People started cleaning out their change in their pockets for the cause. He has been so excited about the money. We put it on a shelf and he points to it when he walks past it and says, “That’s my mission money!”
Mother’s Day
May 11, 2008 by Heidi in Family
This Mother’s Day was such a nice day!! It started out this morning with the boys sleeping in. When they finally woke up Scott got up with them. Scott and Ben made me breakfast in bed. (I could tell that Ben had helped with the French Toast because of the cute finger marks that were in the bread.) Then we got ready for church. During the opening hymn I had Tyler on my lap and Ben came and sat by me (which never happens - he’s a daddy’s boy) and I felt so blessed. It made me think about 3 years ago when I sat in the same type of meeting just praying for the chance to be able to have Ben come into my life and there I was with 2 little boys in my arms. What a difference a few years have made for me. We had my mom and dad, Scott’s mom and dad, and Kristy over for dinner. We were able to sit and visit. Every other Mother’s Day I have felt guilty, that I wasn’t a mom or that I just wasn’t doing enough. This year I just took some time to really reflect and enjoy the blessings I have.
Making Grandma’s Presents
May 11, 2008 by Heidi in Family
For Mother’s Day the boys printed their hands and feet with colored paint on a towel for their Grandma’s. Ben was so much fun with choosing which color he wanted his hands and feet. He was trying to do everything just the way I wanted. Tyler, on the other hand, was another story. I don’t know who got the idea that making prints of a 7 month olds hands would be a good idea. It took Scott and I and even a little help from Ben to get the sets of prints done. In the end the Grandma’s loved their gifts and Ben was so excited to watch them open them.

Engagment Ring
May 4, 2008 by Heidi in Friends & Neighbors
Our friend Warren has found an amazing girl named Katie. He proposed to her on New Year’s Eve, but didn’t have her ring. Well we got a phone call on Monday and Warren asked if it would be okay if he presented Katie her ring at our party. Scott said, “yes, of course.” So after everyone was done eating Warren came and told me to get my camera. I walked outside and acted like I was just taking pictures of the party and then Warren walked out. He said some very sweet things and then got down on one knee and asked her to marry him again!! We are so excited that they shared this moment with us. We love Warren and we think that Katie is so good for him. They make each other better and we enjoy hanging out with them.
Cinco de Mayo - Kind of
May 4, 2008 by Heidi in Friends & Neighbors
We had our 8th annual party this Saturday. How lucky am I that my husband likes to celebrate the day that I fell in love with him!! We had all of our friends from California over and their kids. Luckily the weather was nice enough for the kids to be able to play outside together. So we had an outside picnic and talked together and watched the kids play. It was so much fun to catch up on everyone’s lives. Oh my how things have changed in the last 8 years. Warren and Stacy have a 4 1/2 week old little girl and I was holding her and Ben came over with a disgusted look on his face, pointed to the baby and said, “What is that?” He thought that maybe he had gotten a sister. He felt better after I explained that she wasn’t ours.
