Happy Easter
March 25, 2008 by Heidi in Family
On Saturday Ben got to decorate Easter eggs with Holly and Zacary. (I didn’t get the dye and eggs because I thought that Ben would make a huge mess of it.) Ben actually had so much fun drawing on the eggs and then choosing the color that he wanted them to be.
Easter was so much fun this year because Ben really understood what he was supposed to be doing. He came in our room in the morning and was telling us that there were eggs downstairs for him to get. We went downstairs and emptied out his basket. He got The Little Einsteins and Rocket, CARS shoes (they actually look like Lighting McQueen), and CARS sippy cups. He then ran around the house finding eggs. He was having so much fun!
Children’s Museum

After Elmo left they let us into the rest of the museum about 1/2 hour before they opened it to the public. It was so much fun to play with Ben because there weren’t ant lines to have to wait in so he got to do whatever he wanted.
He loved playing with the balls in the beehive. He just kept putting the balls in watching them fly up. Ben also loved the dress-up land. He went running in and saw the fireman jacket and hat and wanted it on. He then jumped in the firetruck and drove it around. He kept saying “I’m like grandpa, I’m like grandpa!” Then he played in some of the other areas. It was tons of fun to watch!
Elmo

The day finally came for Ben to meet Elmo!! We got up early (Scott stayed home with Tyler) and drove to Salt Lake. By the time we got there Elmo was just arriving. Ben was so excited. I couldn’t get him to eat any breakfast because he just wanted to be with Elmo. When it was finally his turn to see Elmo he ran up to him and gave him a hug.
He was wearing his Elmo football shirt and Elmo pretended to play football with Ben. After that we got to go into the Sesame Street exhibit at the museum.
It talked all about the human body. Ben’s favorite section was the digestive system. He pulled the lever and the mouth chewed, then he turned the crank and it showed the stomach churning the food, and at the end he pushed a red button and it farted and “poo” came out.
He thought it was so funny. He just kept laughing and pushing the button.
Meeting Lightning McQueen

I was trying to come up with a way to motivate Ben to have consecutive days of no accidents. So I was looking online to find something to take him too. I found out that Elmo was coming to a breakfast at the Children’s Museum in Salt Lake. I thought that it would be a great idea to motivate Ben with being able to meet Elmo. I gave him plenty of time because he has never gone 3 days in a row without an accident. Well, I told him about it on Monday, he had an accident on Tuesday and then went the next 3 days in a row with no accident. The problem was Elmo was more than 3 weeks away. I didn’t want to lose our momentum so Friday morning Scott and I were talking about what we could do when they showed Lightning McQueen on the news at the Auto Rama. The look on Ben’s face let us know that this would be the perfect reward!! So after Ben woke up from his nap we got in the car and drove to Salt Lake (Ben asked us about ever 2 seconds when he got to see McQueen). We got there and went in and then we couldn’t find him anywhere. Ben started to get a little upset with us when we walked down an isle and there he was. The look on his face was so priceless! I was so excited because Ben was so excited. Scott took him in and got his picture taken. He walked around and was touching everything on the car. I took all of the pictures I could. We were at the auto show for another hour and I think that Scott took Ben to see Lightning McQueen 8 more times. We finally had to tell him that McQueen needed to go back to Radiator Springs and go to bed. I’ll update you about Elmo in a few weeks.
